LP401040 LiPo Battery: Engineering and Integration
The VTCBATT VTC-LP401040 is a 3.7V 130mAh lithium polymer battery pack for narrow rechargeable device housings. Its single pouch cell is assembled with an S8261DAA-M6T1U protection IC, an 8205 MOSFET and red/black flying leads. The finished pack measures up to 4.2 x 10.5 x 42.0mm, excluding the leads, and weighs approximately 2.5g. Standard charging and discharging use 26mA; rapid charging and maximum discharge are specified at 130mA. VTCBATT provides factory-direct supply, OEM/ODM engineering review, sample development and wholesale batch support, with the final assembly agreed against the device specification.

Initial pack impedance is ≤360mΩ, measured by AC at 1kHz and 3.7V. Standard charge time is 6–7 hours and rapid charge time is approximately 1.5 hours under the specified charging conditions. These are specification values; actual runtime and charge time depend on the device and operating conditions.
Cell and Pack Dimensions
| Symbol | Description | Dimension |
|---|---|---|
| T | Cell initial thickness, max. | 4.0mm |
| T | Cell thickness after 600 cycles, max. | 4.3mm |
| W | Cell width, max. | 10.0mm |
| H | Cell height, max. | 40.0mm |
| T | Battery pack thickness, max. | 4.2mm |
| W | Battery pack width, max. | 10.5mm |
| H | Battery pack height, max. | 42.0mm |
| L | Wire length | 50 ± 5mm |
| L1 | Stripped wire end | 2.5 ± 0.5mm |
The cell and pack dimensions describe different assemblies. Do not use the bare-cell size as the finished-pack envelope. Route the leads without stressing the terminals and provide device-specific clearance for pouch expansion.

Charging, Discharging and Temperature
Standard charging uses 0.2C (26mA) constant current to 4.2V followed by constant voltage until current falls below 0.01C. The discharge cut-off is 3.0V. Charge at 0–45°C and discharge at -20–60°C; operating humidity is limited to 90%RH. The 260mA peak discharge value has no specified duration: validate the transient load profile before committing a design.
Protection Circuit
| Protection parameter | Minimum / typical / maximum or stated limit |
|---|---|
| Overcharge protection | 4.260 / 4.280 / 4.300V |
| Overcharge release | 4.030 / 4.080 / 4.130V |
| Overdischarge protection | 2.950 / 3.000 / 3.050V |
| Overdischarge release | 2.900 / 3.000 / 3.100V |
| Discharge overcurrent trip | 0.6 / 1.2 / 2.5A |
| PCM resistance | 50mΩ typical; 70mΩ maximum |
| Operating quiescent current | 3 / 5 / 7µA |
| Power-down current | 0.5µA maximum |
| Short-circuit protection | Available; 196 / 280 / 364µs delay |
The S8261DAA-M6T1U and 8205 protection assembly supports the rechargeable pack. PCM overcurrent thresholds are protective trip points and do not increase the cell current rating. The device should control normal operation within the charge and discharge limits.

Cycle Life and Storage
The cycle-life criterion is at least 600 cycles using 0.2C CC-CV charging to 4.2V with 0.02C termination, followed by 0.2C discharge to 3.0V. Testing stops at 80% of rated capacity. This is a qualification criterion, not a supplied batch test result.
The self-discharge acceptance criterion is at least 85% of initial capacity after 28 days at 20 ± 5°C, assessed by 0.2C discharge. Recommended storage is 15–35°C at no more than 85%RH. For extended storage, maintain 3.6–3.9V and follow the recommended six-month recharge interval. Qualification criteria do not replace lot-specific validation.
Application Fit and Selection
The narrow Li-ion polymer battery format is a candidate for fitness band modules, rechargeable active styluses, miniature Bluetooth tags, temperature data loggers, presentation remotes, non-medical motion sensors, compact wireless keyboard modules and BLE beacons. Each design needs an enclosure-fit check, a compatible 4.2V CC-CV charging circuit and validation of average current, radio peaks and required runtime. VTCBATT can review wire routing, connector matching, protection requirements, labeling and sample assembly for brand owners, distributors and equipment manufacturers before wholesale or batch supply. The standard pack uses two stripped leads; a connector or NTC is not included in the documented configuration.
| Design requirement | Selection check |
|---|---|
| Narrow housing | Check the protected pack envelope, wire path and expansion allowance. |
| Runtime target | Estimate from average load and validate under the real duty cycle. |
| Higher sustained load | Select a battery rated for that load if the device exceeds 130mA. |
| Larger capacity | Compare enclosure space and runtime before changing cell format. |
