Automatic Battery Capacity Test

Battery capacity test is the core part of all battery manufacturing tests to ensure the battery’s runtime and power. Our advanced capacity tester cabinets are connected to the computer and ERP system, which will automatically monitor and report all the cell test data of capacity, internal resistance, and voltage. After 3 cycles of charge and discharge, the unqualified batteries below the capacity standards will be sorted out automatically through the abnormal light point indication and red curve in the computer display. All the test data will be stored in our ERP system for 5 years for quality traceability and will be available for customers at all times. It’s our obligation to ensure that all of our lithium batteries are beyond the customer’s requested capacity.

Battery Capacity Test Procedure

Test phase 1: At 25°C temperature, CC/CV charge@0.2C to 4.2V and stop till current end at 0.01C.

Test phase 2: At 25°C temperature, CC discharge@0.2C to 3.0V then rest 5 min.

Test phase 3: Repeat the above for 3 cycles and get the accurate capacity.

Battery Capacity Test Tips

Tip 1. When the battery voltage reaches at 4.2V, do not stop charging immediately! You need to wait till the charge current ends at 0.01C, which will take an extra 30-40 minutes.

Tip 2: The capacity accuracy depends on the tester. Some consumer electronics will end current at 0.05C to reduce the charging time.

Tip 3: Do not charge the battery at incorrect voltage > 4.25V! It will cause the permanent damage and potential risk to the lithium battery.
Tip 4: After several months of storage, the battery needs to be charged for 2-3 cycles to recover the original performance and improve the capacity.

How does CC-CV testing affect lithium battery lifespan?

A: Under correct test conditions, the CC-CV phase will not affect the lithium battery lifespan. Accurate capacity can only be measured through the CC-CV phase.
