The single cell lipo battery provides 3.7v power to the microcontroller inside the remote controller to ensure stable signal output.
Smart BraceletsThe small display in the bracelet needs a small shaped battery to power it so that the screen can display health data and messages.
To test the voltage of a Li-Polymer battery, use a digital multimeter to measure the battery’s open-circuit voltage under standard environmental conditions (23°C ±2°C). The battery voltage should normally fall within the safe operating range of 3.0V to 4.2V per cell.
Basic Testing Steps
Turn on the multimeter and set it to DC voltage mode.
Connect the probes correctly:
- Red probe → positive terminal (+)
- Black probe → negative terminal (−)
- Read the displayed voltage.
Voltage Reference Range
- 4.2V/cell → Fully charged
- 3.7V/cell → Nominal voltage
- 3.0V/cell → Recommended cut-off voltage
- Below 3.0V may indicate over-discharge and possible battery damage.
Important Notes
- Testing should be performed after the battery rests briefly without load for more accurate readings.
- Avoid testing damaged, swollen, or leaking batteries.
- During charging tests, the charging voltage should not exceed 4.2V per cell.
A single cell lipo battery is a lithium polymer battery with only one cell, also known as a 1S liPo battery. Multi-cell lipo batteries, such as 2S and 3S liPo batteries, are made up of multiple cells connected in series. 1S liPo batteries are often light, small and easy to carry, and multi-cell batteries have higher voltages and can be used in electronic devices that require high voltage, power and capacity.
Battery capacity is related to battery life, and a larger capacity means a longer battery life. VTCBATT provides single cell lipo batteries with 300-1000 mAh. You can choose a single cell lipo battery with the right mAh based on the time and power consumption of your project equipment.
Yes. A single cell lipo battery is also known as a 1S liPo battery. There are usually standard 1S liPo batteries, high-discharge 1S liPo battery, pouch cell 1S liPo battery, ultra-thin 1S liPo battery, etc. You can choose and customize the appropriate single cell lipo battery according to your needs.
Compared with the 1C-5C output current of Standard 1S LiPo Battery, High-discharge 1S LiPo Battery outputs a large current of 30C, 60C, and 90C, which can be used in small power tools and other tools that require high power.
Pouch Cell 1S LiPo Battery is a flexible battery encapsulated with aluminum-plastic film. It is thinner and more flexible, and can be customized into various shapes to fit in various restricted spaces. It can be used in devices such as smart bracelets and sensors.
The ultra-thin 1S liPo battery is a smaller and thinner battery than a single , and its thickness is usually between 2mm-5mm, or even thinner. Compared with the pouch cell 1S liPo battery, the ultra-thin 1S liPo battery is more flexible and can be made into a card-shaped battery for use in smartphones and smart cards. However, due to its thin appearance, the battery capacity is also small and requires an external protection circuit. You can choose whether you need this ultra-thin 1S liPo battery according to your project requirements.
A single lithium polymer battery is 4.2v when fully charged. You need to pay attention to the battery voltage control within 3v-4.2v, otherwise over-discharge or over-charge will cause serious damage to the battery life, and even cause danger in serious cases.
LiPo is a single-cell battery formed by wrapping a polymer electrolyte in a pouch cell, which can be made into various sizes and shapes. One of the outstanding features of LiPo is that it can discharge at a high rate of up to 60 C instantly. LiPo is very light and can be used in aircraft, smart bracelets and other devices that consider weight.
Lithium ion is a battery that wraps a liquid electrolyte in an aluminum shell, and its size is mostly fixed and cannot be adjusted. However, it can store more electricity than LiPo, and has a longer battery life, so it can be used in electronic devices that consider battery life, such as laptops and smartphones.
In short, there is no fundamental good or bad between LiPo and lithium ion. They both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Choose the most suitable battery according to your project needs.
If you want to charge a single cell lipo battery, you should use a dedicated lithium battery charger to ensure that the maximum charging voltage does not exceed 4.2v. Stop charging after it is fully charged. This can extend the battery life.
This is a rule for safe battery use. You should keep 20% of the battery each time you use it, and only use about 80% of the battery. For example, for a 1000mAh single cell lipo battery, you can use a maximum of 800mAh. This rule can extend the life of the battery and avoid the risk of battery bulging.
Yes. If a compliant lithium battery charger with overcharge protection function is used, a single cell lipo battery can be charged overnight occasionally. Generally, it is best to store the battery at 50–70% capacity. Frequently charging a single cell lipo battery overnight will affect the battery life.
First, the most intuitive way is to judge by the battery life. If the battery life is very short after it is fully charged, it means that the battery capacity has deteriorated. Secondly, you can observe the appearance of the battery. If there are bulges, damage and heat, it means that the battery is damaged and it will be dangerous to continue using it.
The two plugs on the battery are the discharge plug for outputting current to power the device and the balance plug for connecting the charger to charge the battery.
If your single cell lipo battery may have the following reasons:
- The voltage is too low, causing the battery protection board to automatically power off;
- The battery is seriously aged or damaged;
- The battery is short-circuited due to a sudden high current load, and it can work again after a while;
- Damage to the protection circuit board can also cause the battery to stop working normally.
No. Single cell lipo battery will not catch fire under normal storage conditions. However, you need to pay attention to the following dangers:
Avoid using the battery if it is damaged, otherwise it will cause danger;
If the battery is stored in an overcharged state for a long time, the battery pack will accelerate aging and bulge and there is a risk of spontaneous combustion;
Avoid direct sunlight, as long-term exposure to sunlight can cause fire;
So, to avoid possible fires, you must ensure that the battery itself is safe and stored in a cool and dry place.
We do not recommend charging 1S Li-ion without a charger, because improper charging methods may cause battery fire, explosion and damage.
