Custom Ultra-Thin LiMnO₂ Battery Manufacturer

A slim enclosure leaves little room for a battery. Standard cells may be too thick, while a smaller cell may not provide enough capacity or support wireless transmission pulses.

VTCBATT develops custom 3.0 V non-rechargeable LiMnO₂ pouch batteries around your available space and power needs. We support model selection and prototype testing so you can check fit and discharge performance before production.

Ultra-Thin LiMnO₂ vs Ultra-Thin LiPo

Ultra-thin LiMnO₂ cells are non-rechargeable; ultra-thin LiPo cells are rechargeable. Compare their voltage, charging needs and service life below. Matching dimensions do not make them direct replacements.

Battery typeNon-rechargeable lithium manganese dioxide cell.Rechargeable lithium-ion polymer cell.
Nominal voltage3.0 V per cell.Usually 3.7 V per cell.
Charging & replacementMust not be recharged. Replace the battery when depleted, where the device allows.Recharge with a compatible charging circuit; replace the battery when it reaches the end of its useful life.
Storage & standbyLow self-discharge helps retain stored energy.Storage charge level and temperature affect aging.
Service life & cycle lifeDepends on capacity, power consumption and aging; no recharge cycles.Depends on charge cycles, usage and aging.
Pulse & continuous currentPulse and continuous current limits vary by model.Current limits vary by model, not thickness alone.
Device spaceNo charging hardware; still needs insulation and connections.Needs space for charging, protection and connections.
Nominal energy at 100 mAhAbout 0.30 Wh at 3.0 V.About 0.37 Wh at 3.7 V.
Typical applicationsSmart labels, battery-powered RFID tags, disposable patches and trackers.Rechargeable wearables, trackers and medical devices.

Nominal energy = nominal voltage × capacity in Ah. Equal mAh does not mean equal energy or runtime. Usable energy, storage life and discharge performance depend on the specific cell and operating conditions.

LiMnO₂ Pouch Battery Structure

A LiMnO₂ pouch cell has a flat electrode structure enclosed in a laminated pouch. The illustration shows its main components:

  • Laminated pouch package: An aluminum-plastic laminate encloses the electrodes and electrolyte.
  • MnO₂ cathode (+): The manganese dioxide electrode forms the positive side of the cell.
  • Lithium metal anode (−): The lithium metal electrode forms the negative side.
  • Separator: A porous insulating layer separates the electrodes while allowing lithium ions to pass through the electrolyte.
  • Positive and negative tabs: Metal tabs connect the internal electrodes to the external circuit. Wires or terminals can be added for the required connection.
  • Heat-sealed edge: The sealed perimeter closes the pouch and helps prevent electrolyte leakage and moisture entry.

What is an ultra-thin LiMnO₂ battery?

An ultra-thin LiMnO₂ battery is a 3.0 V non-rechargeable lithium manganese dioxide cell in a flat pouch package. It provides a thin primary lithium power source for devices with limited battery space.

Are ultra-thin LiMnO₂ batteries rechargeable?

No. Ultra-thin LiMnO₂ pouch cells are primary batteries and must not be recharged.

Can I replace a thin LiPo battery with a LiMnO₂ pouch cell?

No. The device must support the LiMnO₂ cell’s voltage range and prevent charging current from reaching it.

Does the listed thickness include wires, insulation and connectors?

No. The listed dimensions refer to the bare cell. Insulation, wire connections and connectors require additional space.

What is the difference between a LiMnO₂ pouch battery and a coin cell?

A LiMnO₂ pouch cell uses a flat laminated package; a LiMnO₂ coin cell uses a rigid round metal case. Pouch cells offer more freedom in footprint, while coin cells use standard round sizes. Current capability and capacity depend on the model.

Can an ultra-thin LiMnO₂ battery support wireless transmission pulses?

Yes, selected models support wireless pulses. Confirm that the voltage stays above the device cutoff during the specified pulse load.

Can an ultra-thin LiMnO₂ pouch battery be bent or folded?

A soft pouch does not mean the cell is designed to flex. Do not fold or crease a standard flat cell. A curved installation or repeated bending requires a battery design specifically approved for that use.

Can I solder wires directly to the flat thin LiMnO2 battery?

Wires can be soldered to designated solder tabs using the model’s approved assembly process. Factory-fitted leads are also available.

How should ultra-thin LiMnO₂ batteries be stored before assembly?

Keep cells in their protective packaging in a cool, dry place within the specified storage conditions. Protect the tabs from short circuits and the pouch from sharp objects or pressure. Keep batch and storage-date records.

Why can a device stop working while the battery still has capacity?

Voltage can fall below the device cutoff before all capacity is used. A normal no-load voltage does not confirm that the cell can power the device.

Is LiMnO₂ better than LiPo for RFID tags?

For active or battery-assisted RFID tags, LiMnO₂ suits designs that will not be recharged; LiPo suits rechargeable designs. Passive RFID tags do not need a battery. Neither chemistry is automatically better for every RFID application.

Testing for Ultra-Thin LiMnO₂ Batteries

Testing checks the energy a cell can deliver, its voltage under load and its fit in the device. Test conditions and acceptance limits should match the selected model and application.

Open-Circuit Voltage (OCV): Measure voltage and confirm polarity before applying a load.

Capacity: Measure the capacity delivered at a stated current, temperature and cutoff voltage.

Pulse Discharge: Record minimum voltage and recovery during repeated transmission or alarm pulses.

Low-Temperature Discharge: Check capacity and voltage under the intended load at the required low temperature.

Storage Test: Check capacity and pulse performance after a defined storage period and temperature.

Dimensional Inspection: Check maximum thickness, width, length and tab positions against the model drawing.

Leakage & Sealing Inspection: Inspect pouch seals and tab exits for damage, leakage and sealing defects.
