In most diesel and gasoline trucks, the battery’s primary function is to start the engine. However, in cold climates, low temperatures reduce battery efficiency, making starting the vehicle more difficult. Therefore, most truck batteries have a Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) rating between 500 and 900, which is sufficient for most trucks. Heavy-duty trucks may require a battery with a higher CCA rating.
